Heritage Surf Club partners with SOLID Surf & Adventure located in El Transito, Nicaragua and whose owners are Ocean City, NJ residents. They opened their surf retreat business back in 2012, spending more than six years living and breathing the business while on site in Nicaragua. With kids now in our local NJ schools, they support the business in the background whit their local team running the day-to-day operations – enabling them to welcome visitors year round to enjoy not only surfing, volunteering, and adventure but also the joys and culture of Nicaragua.

We chose this destination not only because of the company’s ties to our community, but also because it’s a location that can accommodate all levels and types of surfers without needing to take boat trips that may leave beginner or non-surfers behind. We run a women’s retreat yearly in February and encourage you to get a crew together to customize your own trip.

This all-inclusive retreat is designed to take care of all the logistics so you can maximize your surf hours. Everything from food and accommodations to in-country transport and trips to other surf breaks are included in this package.

What to know?

  • The breaks are un-crowded, enjoyable for all surfing levels and literally in front of the property / compound (high tide reaches the property)
  • Wave Season Details
    • November/December is typically fun, chest to head high surf with offshore wind
    • January/February brings the smallest waves of the year and strongest offshore winds
    • March/April is the start of the bigger wave season (chest high to overhead surf and offshore wind)
  • Airport: Managua, Nicaragua (Code MGA) – SOLID is just a 90 minute drive from the airport
  • It is not necessary to get any extra vaccines or bring malaria pills
  • Nicaragua is just north of Costa Rica
  • We ask for a 50% deposit to book with the balance being charged one week prior to arrival
